A report that the drama “The Second Signal” (hereinafter referred to as “Signal 2”), whose release has been delayed due to controversy over actor Jo Jin-woong’s past juvenile delinquency record, is scheduled to air in December has emerged. However, tvN stated that the broadcast schedule has not yet been finalized.
According to NEWSIS on the 25th, a tvN official said regarding the scheduling of “Signal 2,” “Nothing has been confirmed.”
Earlier that day, one media outlet reported that “Signal 2” had been scheduled as a Monday-Tuesday drama and was set to premiere on December 7.
“Signal 2” is the sequel to the drama “Signal,” which aired in 2016, and was produced to commemorate tvN’s 20th anniversary of its launch. Following the previous installment, screenwriter Kim Eun-hee took charge of the script, and major cast members including Kim Hye-soo, Lee Je-hoon, and Jo Jin-woong reunited, generating anticipation.
However, controversy erupted last December when it was revealed that Jo Jin-woong had a past juvenile delinquency record. Subsequently, as Jo Jin-woong announced his retirement from the entertainment industry, the release schedule for the work became uncertain.
At the time, the production team stated, “This is a work we have prepared with dedication, aiming for a second-half 2026 release, to convey our heartfelt gratitude to viewers who have waited for 10 years,” adding, “Even if it takes some time, we will make every effort to find the optimal solution for both the work and our viewers.”
