
Singer Lee Chae-yeon and Cha-ryeong of the group ITZY announced that their mother, Choi Sun-young, is battling cancer.
On the 15th, Choi shared her recent condition on her social media (SNS), saying, "I was told I need to eat well, so it feels like I've eaten every kind of meat for a week." She continued, "Now I am officially recognized as a cancer patient by the state. Next week I will go to the hospital to see what treatment I will receive. I have decided to manage my physical strength well until then."
She added, "I will try to smile more and live with a positive mindset," expressing her determination to focus on health management ahead of her treatment. She concluded with, "Thank you every day."
Her two daughters, Lee Chae-yeon and Cha-ryeong, also showed their support by liking the post.
As news of Choi's cancer battle spread, attention has once again turned to the moment when Cha-ryeong and her mother were seen at ITZY's fifth fan meeting held on the 8th.
Upon spotting her mother in the audience, Cha-ryeong could not contain her emotions and began to cry. She was also captured approaching her mother and hugging her from behind. The scene spread across online platforms through videos and photos taken by fans.
