Group BLACKPINK's Jisoo revealed the story behind her controversial remarks immediately after their Coachella performance in the U.S.
On the 30th, a video titled "Looking back on our 10th debut with Jisoo and Chat-Talk! Why was there silence during the BLACKPINK concert?" was released on the fashion magazine's YouTube channel 'W Korea'.
In the video, Jisoo revisited the scene after BLACKPINK became the first K-pop (Korean pop) group to complete a 'headliner' stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the U.S. in 2023. As the members shed tears of emotion after finishing their performance, Jisoo looked at the screen and playfully responded, "Huh? Crying, crying."
Then came the controversial scene. In the video, Jisoo told her members, "BLACKPINK, you're not going to take photos, right? I'm changing clothes," instantly shifting the touching atmosphere.
Revisiting this scene, Jisoo laughed and said, "But that was exactly it. Someone had to do it." When asked if it wasn't a "capital T moment," she replied, "It's not a capital T moment," and explained the situation at the time.
Jisoo stated, "Even after the performance ended, the members didn't leave their spots. Coachella is far from LA. I had decided to head back to LA after the show, but it would take about two hours by car." She continued, "So we had no choice but to organize things like this. At that time, I felt like I needed to call out 'BLACKPINK' for them to look directly at me, so I did."
