Son Ye-jin announced that she used computer graphics (CG) to recreate her face as a 20-year-old in the Netflix series "Scandal."
In the web variety show "I Did Come for Promotion," recently released on the YouTube channel "Netflix Korea," Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana appeared alongside hosts Yoo Byung-jae and Jonathan to share stories.
In the video, Yoo Byung-jae asked how the childhood faces of Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook were realized in the drama.
Son Ye-jin stated, "The face when I was young was created using CG." Yoo Byung-jae and Jonathan expressed surprise, saying, "It should have shown signs of being a CG and looked awkward, but we didn't notice," and "It really felt like a young person."
Son Ye-jin explained that she filmed with her current appearance and then recreated her younger self by referencing her past works. She said, "We tried to make it close to how I looked in my 20s, for example, in the movie 'Classic'."
She added, "I thought, 'This really looks like how I was in my 20s.' It was quite amazing."
Son Ye-jin also shared an anecdote about bringing home five silkworms used during filming for her son, who is very interested in insects and animals, and raising them until they became moths.
She said, "The silkworms were cuter than I expected. Watching them munch was adorable." She added, "I got mulberry leaves, put them in the refrigerator, and changed them regularly. Then, at some point, they had started spinning cocoons."
She continued, "I was told to keep them in a humid place, so I left them in the bathroom. I even raised them until they became moths," and reported that she later released them back into nature.
"Scandal" is a drama set in the Joseon Dynasty, depicting the dangerous love game between Lady Jo (played by Son Ye-jin), Jo Won (played by Ji Chang-wook), and Hee-yeon (played by Nana). It was released on the 18th.
Son Ye-jin dated actor Hyun Bin for two years after working together in the tvN drama "Crash Landing on You" and married him in March 2022. They welcomed a son in November of the same year.
