Singer Kim Ki-tae revealed that he dreamed of becoming a famous singer in order to reunite with his mother, whom he had parted ways with during his childhood, but learned too late of her passing.
On the the 26th broadcast of MBN's "Kim Ju-ha's Day & Night," singers Kim Ki-tae, Hwang Ga-ram, Lee Ji-hoon, and Ochuba Jeremy appeared to share stories about family and life.
During the broadcast, Kim Ki-tae explained that he had not been able to meet his mother since their separation following his parents' divorce when he was young. He said he continued pursuing music with the belief that once he became a famous singer, his mother would recognize him and come looking for him.
Although he won JTBC's "Sing Again 2" in 2022 and continued his broadcasting activities while waiting for news from his mother, there was no contact. However, while preparing to move recently, he learned too late through a family relationship certificate that his mother had already passed away.
Kim Ki-tae said, "I was preparing to visit her in person to pay my respects, so I was filled with regret upon learning this. I miss her so much," and added, "Thank you for giving me life, and I love you," conveying the feelings he could never express directly.
Kim Ki-tae debuted in 2015 with his single "Tell Me" and gained recognition after winning the final round of "Sing Again 2."
