A commotion arose after news of the passing of artist Heo Young-man (79) spread across online platforms overnight.
According to NEWS1 and NEWSIS on the 8th, a post reading “Obituary: Manga artist Heo Young-man has passed away” had spread on social media (SNS) and online communities the previous day (the 7th).
The post included a photo of a man along with words expressing the feelings of a child toward their deceased father.
However, this obituary was not for artist Heo Young-man. The artist’s side stated, “The obituary is false. The teacher is receiving rehabilitation treatment well and is recovering.”
Earlier, in June, news emerged that artist Heo Young-man had suffered a fall accident and been transported to an intensive care unit.
At the time, the artist’s side revealed, “He recently sustained injuries from a fall and was transported to an intensive care unit,” adding, “The injuries are not extremely serious, and he is currently focusing on treatment and recovery.”
Due to this injury, the artist concluded his seven-year journey with TV Chosun’s “Foodie Heo Young-man’s 100,000 Won Journey,” which had been airing since 2019.
