Actress Lee Min-jung was seen checking prices herself to determine her elementary school-aged son’s allowance.
On the 13th, a video titled “The Day We Decide Our Elementary School Son’s Allowance” was uploaded to Lee Min-jung’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Lee Min-jung said, “I suggested that we decide Jun-hoo’s allowance today. In three months, he will be 13 years old in Korean age,” explaining the reason for setting her son’s allowance.
First, Lee Min-jung called her son to ask how much allowance he wanted. Her son replied, “100,000 won a month,” while adding, “A little more than that would be nice,” indicating he hoped for a generous amount. In response, Lee Min-jung said, “Mom will look into it.”
Subsequently, Lee Min-jung personally visited convenience stores, snack shops, taco restaurants, and stationery stores that her son frequently uses to check the prices of items and food. She noted, “Convenience stores seem to account for most of it these days. The convenience store is the most important place,” explaining the significant role convenience stores play in children’s spending habits.
Assuming her son buys food outside about three times a week, Lee Min-jung calculated that “about 50,000 won a week would be appropriate.” However, they ultimately decided on 40,000 won per week.
Lee Min-jung said, “Some months have four weeks and some have five, so we should calculate it on a weekly basis,” and suggested, “How about 40,000 won a week?”
When the production team pointed out that it was less than before, Lee Min-jung laughed and said, “Less? Well, let’s do that, and if it turns out to be insufficient, we can adjust it again.”
