Kang Kyun-sung of the group Noreul revealed that he is maintaining premarital chastity with his fiancée, actress Yoo Ha-jin, who is 14 years his junior.
The MBC variety show 'Radio Star,' which aired on the 14th, featured a special episode titled "Management~? I won't let it slip! The God of Management," in which actress Park Jun-geum, comedian Kim Young-cheol, actress Ham Eun-jong (formerly of T-ARA), and Kang Kyun-sung of Noreul appeared to share their stories.
On the broadcast, Kang Kyun-sung shared his wedding news, saying, "I am getting married on October 30."
Kang Kyun-sung revealed that he had a "fling" with his fiancée, Yoo Ha-jin, nine years ago when they first met. He said, "The age gap was too large. I was 37 at the time, and she was 23. After having a few meals together, I stopped contacting her out of guilt, feeling that 'this isn't right.'"
He continued, "We were only following each other on social media (SNS), so I only knew how she was doing. Then, nine years later, an acquaintance said, 'There's a nice person, shouldn't you get married too?' and offered to introduce us. When I saw who it was, it turned out to be her."
He added, "My fiancée said, 'That's the hyung I had a quick meal with nine years ago. We don't have to meet.' But I suggested, 'Since we know each other, let's just grab a meal after so long,' and we did. The conversation went really well. It developed into dating, and we eventually promised to marry."
Kang Kyun-sung said, "We haven't been dating for several months yet. We started seeing each other in mid-February," revealing that he decided to marry after eight months of dating.
He stated, "When I felt very lacking, I tried to find someone who suited me. But with this person, we can grow together, and I found myself letting go of my own things."
MC Kim Goo-ra asked, "What are you letting go of?" and inquired about premarital chastity by asking, "Did you finally break your conviction?"
In response, Kang Kyun-sung said, "Because we set the wedding date early, many people ask, 'Isn't it a (premarital) pregnancy?' But we have no experience," and confessed, "We haven't shared love with each other."
When MC Jang Do-yeon asked, "Is your partner accommodating you?" Kang Kyun-sung replied, "My fiancée thinks the same way I do, so it turned out this way. She doesn't have that mindset herself; she isn't doing it just for me."
He continued, "I didn't make a chastity vow because I wanted to. At the time, things just ended up that way, and how well could I have kept it? There were many days I failed to keep it, so I feel very sorry. Looking back at my past, I am quite ashamed, but when I met someone to marry, I thought, 'This one time, with this person, I should try to keep it.'"
When MC Jang Do-yeon said, "It must be exciting while enduring this," Kang Kyun-sung responded, "That's why it is a true honeymoon."
Hearing this, MC Kim Goo-ra reacted by saying, "So that's why you're getting married so soon," which drew laughter.
Kang Kyun-sung said, "These days, people enjoy many of the things they would experience after marriage before actually getting married. As a result, I've seen comments saying expectations decrease after marriage, but our expectations are very high."
He added, "Recently, my (fiancée) was worried and asked, 'I hope there isn't something wrong with you, hyung?' That's understandable. I need to prove it quickly," which also drew laughter.
He stated, "Usually, people say they are too tired after the wedding ceremony and just go to sleep. We scheduled our wedding for 7 p.m. so we wouldn't have to get up early. It is for conditioning management after the ceremony."
He added, "We can't leave immediately for our honeymoon; we will stay at a hotel for one day. I want to remember that hotel and the lake. During our married life, I plan to say, 'How about we recall our memories from back then?' Wouldn't it be nice if we could book that lake again?"
He continued, "Actually, there are things I can't really talk about because there were so many years when I didn't keep my vow. I am sorry and ashamed," and revealed, "Fortunately, my male hormone levels are high."
Kang Kyun-sung debuted in 2002 as a member of the four-member group Noreul and received much love for songs such as "Holding On," "Proposal," and "It Was All You."
His fiancée, Yoo Ha-jin, is an actress who debuted in the 2019 MBC drama "Spring Night." She has appeared in dramas such as "Welcome," "It's Okay to Be Sensitive 2020," and "Freezing Love," as well as the play "Rental Apartment."
