To mark surpassing 3.26 million admissions and reaching fourth place among the highest-grossing Korean films of the year despite controversies over historical distortion, ‘Assassin(s)’ is hosting a customer appreciation event.
According to the Integrated Ticketing System of the Korea Film Council, as of 4 p.m. on the 20th, the cumulative audience count for ‘Assassin(s)’ stood at 3,265,447.
The production team of ‘Assassin(s)’ announced that it will hold various events to convey its gratitude to audiences, riding the momentum of its box office success.
First, to commemorate entering the top four in this year’s Korean box office rankings, a ticket giveaway event is being held until today. Among audiences who fill out the entry form, winners selected by lottery will receive two movie tickets each. The winners will be announced on the 21st.

An additional event has been arranged in which participants can win a limited-edition T-shirt produced in collaboration with the clothing brand HEIGHTS by posting proof of their movie ticket purchase on social media (SNS) along with required hashtags. The entry period runs until the 1st of next month, and winners will be announced on the 2nd.
‘Assassin(s)’ is a film based on the shooting incident involving Lady Yoo Young-soo that occurred on August 15, 1974. It investigates the suspicions and masterminds behind the incident in which Lady Yoo was killed while Mun Se-gwang, a Korean resident in Japan, fired shots in an attempt to assassinate former president Park Chung-hee.
Since the film’s release, some have raised criticism of historical distortion regarding how it handles actual historical events. As the controversy spread, the production team clarified that “the film was not produced with the intent to deny or distort existing facts.”
