Choi Ja of the group Dynamic Duo revealed that he experienced a terrifying incident during a performance in which a squid went down his airway.
On the 2nd, Episode 169 of the web variety show "Jjahan-hyeong," featuring singer Geumi and Dynamic Duo, was released on the YouTube channel 'Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup'.
In the video, Choi Ja recounted an incident that occurred when he overate just before going on stage in the past.
Choi Ja recalled, "It was an open radio broadcast. It was being held at a small theater on Daehak-ro. Before the recording, they arranged for us to eat at a squid bossam restaurant in front of the venue. Since the appearance fee wasn't much, they told us to eat as much as we wanted, so I was thrilled."
He explained the situation at the time, saying, "I had to go on stage right away, but I kept eating until five minutes before. The squid just wouldn't go down. It felt like it was going down slowly." He continued, "I tried to rap, but when I coughed a little, the squid came back up. Since I couldn't spit it out of my mouth, I tried to swallow it again, but it went into my airway. My vision went blurry for a moment."
Gaeko explained the critical situation at the time: "It was Choi Ja's turn, but he wasn't rapping. I thought the microphone was broken and did about four lines myself, but even when it got to eight lines and he still wasn't doing it, I finally looked over and saw that his eyes were just white before the DJ."
Gaeko reenacted the situation, saying that Choi Ja was clutching his throat at the time and saying, "Stop, stop." Choi Ja said, "I kept thinking I might die on stage."
Gaeko stated, "Wasn't it an emergency?" He added, "After we stopped the performance, when he coughed, a squid about this size came out. The audience was shocked."
Dynamic Duo debuted in 2004 and gained much love with songs such as "Jukil Nod," "Gobaek," "Chulcheok," and "SMOKE." Choi Ja has previously revealed his favorite restaurants through the web variety show "Choi Ja Road."
