
Following Shinhan Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, Hana Bank, and others, a customer personal information leakage incident has occurred at a savings bank.
Yeogaram Savings Bank, an affiliate of Taekwang Group, posted a notice and apology letter regarding the personal information leak by Yeogaram Savings Bank CEO Moon Yun-seok on its homepage on the 2nd.
Moon (CEO) stated, "We are notifying you of the fact of personal information leakage and sincerely apologize to customers who use Yeogaram Savings Bank," adding, "The bank confirmed signs of access by an unidentified hacker to a server containing customer personal information and the leakage of personal information on September 30, 2026."
It further stated, "According to what has been identified so far, this incident is confirmed to be caused by an unidentified hacker accessing a server containing personal information, resulting in the leakage of some information," revealing that "the leaked information identified includes customer names, dates of birth, and contact details."
The bank added, "We once again deeply apologize for causing concern to our customers," stating, "If additional matters are confirmed through future investigations, we will notify you immediately."
Yeogaram Savings Bank explained that it took emergency measures, including halting related services and blocking external IPs, as soon as it became aware of the leakage. To prevent further damage, it is strengthening security monitoring and operating a customer service center for victim relief.
