"Choosing investment targets is the right of an asset management firm. However, such decisions must be based on clear reasons. Angel investors making their first investment in private startups need to practice the process of identifying and deciding on investment rationales."
Jung Sung-min, Co-CEO of BM Ventures, made these remarks in a recent interview with MoneyToday's startup media platform 'Unicorn Factory' regarding training essential for novice angel investors. Jeong (CEO) will serve as an instructor at the '2026 Angel Investment Executive Program' (AIP) to be held at Hanyang University starting in October, guiding participants through venture investment decision-making processes.
The 2026 Angel Investment Executive Program is a training course jointly organized by Unicorn Factory, Hanyang University's Graduate School of Entrepreneurship, the Korea Angel Investment Association, and Ensl Partners, an accelerator and TIPS (Technology Innovation Promotion System) asset management firm. The program consists of ten sessions providing theoretical knowledge and practical exercises in angel investment for employees of large, mid-sized, and public corporations, as well as professionals in the financial and specialized sectors interested in angel investing.
Jeong Seong-min (CEO), formerly from POSCO Technology Investment, co-founded and operates LLC-type venture capital firm BM Ventures with Jeong Eun-ho (CEO), formerly from Mirae Asset Venture Investment, since 2019. The firm's assets under management (AUM) amount to approximately 150 billion won, investing in IT services, content, as well as materials, components and equipment, and deep-tech startups. Representative portfolio companies include APR, ALBW, Furiosa AI, and InnoTech.

During this program, Jeong (CEO) plans to have participants form simulated angel investment groups and conduct investment review committee sessions. Participants will draft investment review reports based on IR (investor presentation) materials from early-stage startups and then hold internal review meetings among group members.
"Participants will be organized into teams of 5–6 members, assuming the role of actual angel investors to simulate venture capital firm investment review committees," Jeong (CEO) stated. "This hands-on exercise, where they evaluate startup prospects, determine investment opinions as in real review meetings, and discuss these with peers, will provide valuable practical experience."
In fact, BM Ventures places exceptional emphasis on investment verification. A representative example is their proprietary evaluation framework 'ReMap', which conducts in-depth company assessments based on five key criteria: feasibility of replicating past failure causes, level of technology internalization, execution capability of the founding team, product-market fit, and policy alignment.
Meanwhile, the '2026 Angel Investment Executive Program' will run for ten weeks from October 1 to December 3, 2026, every Thursday from 5 PM to 9 PM at Hanyang University's Seoul Campus, specifically at the Hanyang Institute of Technology (HIT). Registration closes on September 16. Upon completion, participants will receive certification as individual investment partnership business execution partners (GP) accredited by the Korea Angel Investment Association and a certificate of completion issued in the name of the Dean of Hanyang University's Graduate School of Entrepreneurship.
