At 'CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2027,' the world's largest IT (information technology) and home appliance exhibition to be held next January, the scope of application for AI (artificial intelligence) and humanoid robots is expected to become significantly more concrete. It appears that technologies enabling actual tasks in household and industrial settings will be introduced as a focus, moving beyond merely demonstrating robot movements.
In this regard, CTA (Consumer Technology Association), which oversees CES, held a press conference on the 14th at COEX in Seoul Gangnam-gu to announce key technology trends and event plans for next year's CES. 'CES 2027' will be held in Las Vegas, USA, from January 6 next year for four days. Major domestic companies including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Hynix, Hyundai Mobis, and Kia are scheduled to participate.
CTA presented 'Foundation, Transformation, and Exploration' as the core trends of 'CES 2027,' emphasizing that AI has established itself as a key technology underpinning innovation across all industries. Above all, it identified △AI semiconductors, △vertical AI, and △agentic AI as major technologies driving the AI era. Melissa Harrison, CTA Vice President of Marketing and Communications, stated, "AI has become a core foundation for industrial innovation, going beyond being just a technology trend."
In a survey conducted by CTA in July targeting 425 Korean consumers, 70% of respondents answered that they use AI in their work. As many as 47% of respondents said they use AI daily. Korean consumers who use AI in their work were found to save an average of 8.2 hours per week. Vice President Harrison explained, "This is a key indicator showing that AI is moving from the experimental stage to the stage of everyday use."

Precision manipulation technology for humanoid robots is also an area of focus at 'CES 2027.' As AI and sensor and robotic hand technologies advance, the variety of tasks robots can perform is expanding. CTA predicted that the application areas for robots will expand beyond manufacturing and logistics sites and healthcare to households. Vice President Harrison said, "While humanoid robots are receiving much attention, what is more important is whether robots can actually do certain jobs better."
Domestic companies are also accelerating efforts to advance humanoid technology. Samsung Electronics is developing related technologies centered on the 'RX (Robotics eXperience) Business Promotion Office' directly under the CEO. It is known that they have implemented precise hand movements, such as a humanoid directly operating a camera to take photos. LG Group is also pushing forward with the development of next-generation humanoids, aiming for release in the first quarter of next year.
Lusuardi, CEO of Bosch Korea, who participated in the interview that day, said, "Korea has high openness to technology and little resistance to new technologies," adding, "The whole world should pay attention to how Korea introduces robotics technology into daily life."
As the importance of robotics technology grows, CES exhibition space will also expand. CTA will set up a dedicated exhibition space for advanced manufacturing, robotics, and automation in Hall 3 of the South Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). It is also planned to establish a dedicated zone for agentic AI.
The scale of Korean corporate participation in CES is also expected to increase compared to this year. Approximately 800 Korean companies participated in this year's CES, including about 400 startups. Kinji Fabrizio, Chairman of CTA, stated, "In Korea, innovation is taking place not only in home appliances and consumer technology but also in various fields such as healthcare and semiconductors and memory," adding, "CTA sees great expectations and potential in the Korean market."
