Money Today is holding the third ETF Investment King contest, with registration running from the 14th through September 16. The contest begins on September 21 and will run for eight weeks using simulated ETF (exchange-traded fund) trading. Participants can experience ETF investing in an environment similar to real-world conditions, and those selected as Investment King can receive a top prize of up to 1 billion won. This also offers an opportunity to try ETF investing with initial simulated capital of 1 billion won.
ETFs are gaining popularity among retail investors and growing rapidly due to their diverse investment assets, high stability based on diversified portfolios, and potential for tax savings when used for pension purposes.
The ETF Investment King contest is divided into four categories—domestic stock-type, pension-type, global-type, and self-directed—to accommodate investors engaging with ETFs for various investment goals. Each category restricts the available ETF options to align with its theme. This approach aims to foster a healthy investment culture by encouraging investment strategies suited to the nature of ETF investing rather than focusing on high-volatility leveraged or thematic stock-type products that prioritize short-term returns.
At the end of the eight-week contest period, the participant with the highest return will be awarded the grand prize of 1 billion won. The runner-up will receive a special award worth 5 million won. In addition to the grand prize and Choi U (수상), each category's first-place winner will also receive 1 million won.
Registration requires no account opening; participants can simply download the simulated trading system and create an ID to begin investing. The KOSCOM simulated trading system is designed with buy/sell functions similar to actual markets, and ETFs available for investment are pre-selected by category. Once the contest begins, a ranking page will also be operated.
