LG Uplus announced on the 16th that it showcased its AI-based next-generation Wi-Fi technology at Europe's largest telecommunications and networking exhibition.
The company stated that it participated in 'Network X 2026,' a global telecommunications and networking exhibition held from the 12th to the 15th at the Vienna International Centre for Exhibitions and Conferences, 'Messe Wien,' in Austria.
Network X is an event where global telecom operators, network equipment manufacturers, and ICT companies share next-generation communication technologies and industry trends, including wired and wireless networks, broadband, and AI-based networks.
LG Uplus introduced the commercialization results of Wi-Fi 7 supporting the 6GHz band, which it was the first domestic telecom operator to unveil last year. The router utilizes all three bands—2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz—to provide a fast and stable wireless environment.
At this event, LG Uplus also introduced quality management technology that analyzes Wi-Fi quality data using AI to identify customer inconveniences in advance. By leveraging this technology, AI analyzes network quality data collected from the access point (AP) to determine the causes of quality degradation and can notify customers of problematic situations before they experience any inconvenience.
Additionally, it presented Proof of Concept (PoC) results for Wi-Fi 8-based Edge AI technology. Edge AI is a technology in which AI directly analyzes and optimizes network conditions on routers equipped with Neural Processing Units (NPUs). It is characterized by the ability to manage the network on the router itself without going through cloud servers. LG Uplus plans to continuously enhance related technologies so that, in the future, AI can independently identify failure causes and perform automatic recovery.
During the event period, LG Uplus introduced its AI-based network operation technology and next-generation Wi-Fi technology strategy to global telecom operators, equipment manufacturers, and technology partners. It also exchanged views on the commercialization outlook for Wi-Fi 8 and the development direction of AI-based autonomous network technologies.
Lee Jin-hyuk, Executive Vice President and Head of the Consumer Service Development Lab at LG Uplus, said, "Through this exhibition, we introduced our AI-based network operation technology and next-generation Wi-Fi technology to the global industry." He added, "We will continue developing related technologies to provide stable network services that customers can feel in the future."
