Singer and composer EJAE, 35, and producer and composer Sam Kim held their wedding ceremony.
According to U.S. fashion magazine Vogue on Tuesday, the couple had originally planned to hold their wedding in California in November, but moved it up by one month and held a garden-style wedding at Stage 28 in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul on Saturday.
As Netflix’s ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ became a hit and promotional schedules and award ceremonies continued, they temporarily postponed their wedding preparations, then changed the venue to Korea and finalized the schedule four months before the event.
According to the outlet, EJAE said of the wedding, “It was truly chaotic and stressful, but everything fell perfectly into place.”
Stage 28, where the wedding took place, is a meaningful location for EJAE. She the daughter of Shin Hye-jin, vice chairman of Seong Entertainment, who is the daughter of veteran actor Shin Young-kyun. Stage 28 is located on the site of Shin Young-kyun’s former residence and houses the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation. Previously, her older brother also held his wedding there.
Prior to the main ceremony, the couple began the event with a traditional pyebaek (wedding ritual) at a fusion Korean restaurant in an undisclosed location in Seoul.
The main ceremony was held in the outdoor garden of Stage 28 with an eco-friendly concept. EJAE wore a custom tulle gown by designer Daniel Frankel and family heirloom jewelry, while she wore a Jack Poszen dress and a Mila Nova mini dress at the reception that followed in the greenhouse. Sam Kim alternated between a double-breasted tuxedo from New York’s Bambis Custom Tailor and a custom white tuxedo by Jack Poszen.
The reception featured speeches delivered in both countries’ languages, live performances by the wedding band ‘After Eight,’ whose songs were selected by the couple, and outdoor snack tents. After the official reception ended, they concluded their schedule with an after-party at Itaewon with a small group of friends.
Meanwhile, EJAE is now a singer-songwriter who began her music career as a trainee at SM Entertainment in her childhood and has participated in producing songs for various K-pop artists such as TWICE, Red Velvet, aespa, and NMIXX. Last year, she composed ‘Golden’ for the Netflix animated film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ and sang as the character Rumi, appearing on stages at the U.S. Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards.
Sam Kim is active as a producer, composer, and computer programmer.
