'The all-new TUCSON' has achieved early success in initial orders, contributing to a rebound in Hyundai Motor's sales volume.
Hyundai Motor announced on the 22nd that The all-new TUCSON recorded a total of 15,045 orders on its first day of pre-orders, the 21st. This surpassed the first-day order figure of 10,842 for the 4th-generation Tucson, which was launched in September 2020, setting the highest record among all Tucson generations to date.
Hyundai Motor attributes this success primarily to enhanced product appeal, including driving performance, safety and convenience features, and digital experience, based on a robust design and significantly expanded space. The company also analyzed that making many customer-preferred features standard from the base trim and substantially strengthening advanced features in higher trims contributed to the initial popularity.
By trim level, the top-tier Inspiration trim had the highest selection rate at 44%. The base H-Pick trim accounted for 33%, the mid-tier Exclusive trim for 22%, and the XRT trim, which applies a dedicated design based on the Exclusive trim, for 1%.
The 44% selection rate for the Inspiration trim is analyzed as indicating growing customer demand for advanced features and differentiated product appeal even in the compact SUV (multi-purpose sports vehicle) segment. The Inspiration trim comes standard with various latest features, including Pleos Connect based on a 17-inch display, Highway Driving Assist 2, and dual smartphone wireless charging, providing a more convenient and relaxed mobility experience.
The high selection rate for the base trim is analyzed as a result of significantly increasing the value for money by making Pleos Connect and highly preferred safety and convenience features standard. In particular, the standard application of Pleos Connect and Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, which allows customers to experience an evolving digital experience even after purchase, is evaluated as a key factor driving customer interest.
By powertrain, the selection rate for HYBE-Ride models rose from 48% in previous Tucson models to 55%, surpassing gasoline models. This is attributed to the application of Hyundai Motor Group's next-generation HYBE-Ride system, which simultaneously maximizes peak output and fuel efficiency, thereby securing both ample power performance and economy.
A Hyundai Motor official stated, "The all-new TUCSON is an attractive model with high product appeal from the base trim, based on its robust design and spaciousness," adding, "We will continue to prioritize customers above all else and provide better value in the future."
