Korean traditional trot singer Kim Tae-soo (26) has revealed his recent activities running a restaurant in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 27th episode of MBN's 'Special World,' Kim Tae-soo opened up about caring for his mother who suffers from dementia.
Kim Tae-soo gained attention with his dazzling vocal skills on MBN's 'Nameless Legend.' When he began to attract interest, he left the stage and headed back to his hometown of Yangpyeong. Currently, he helps out in the kitchen at his older sister's bulgogi restaurant.
Kim Tae-soo showed off his knife skills, stating that he took over a restaurant previously operated by his parents one year ago. He revealed, "I am running the restaurant together with my older sister."
There was a reason why the siblings inherited their parents' restaurant. After their mother collapsed from a cerebral infarction last year, she received an early diagnosis of dementia.

Kim Tae-soo said with teary eyes, "At night, my mother would open her eyes and ask, 'Where is this? Why am I here?' It was truly overwhelming."
He added, "Dementia is not a curable disease, right? You must always be by her side to provide constant care and feed her meals."
Even as she was losing her memories, his mother clearly remembered the song 'Mom's Table,' which Kim Tae-soo had sung on 'Nameless Legend' for her, bringing tears to those who heard it.
His father was also battling illness. Kim Tae-soo's father was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer seven years ago and has yet to receive a full recovery diagnosis, so he receives chemotherapy injections every six months.
The older sister also had deep ties to music. The Kim Tae-soo siblings were once famous as the 'Yangpyeong National Music Prodigies.' They swept across stages nationwide starting from when they were 10 years old. However, with the spread of COVID-19 and a series of misfortunes, the sister was forced to give up her dream and became the head of the household, taking on over 100 million won in debt.
