Lawyer Park Min-cheol, who gained recognition via JTBC's variety show 'Divorce Reflection Camp,' will leave Kim & Chang, where he has worked for 18 years, to open his own private law office.
On the 3rd, Lawyer Park shared the news of his departure from Kim & Chang through his YouTube channel 'Lawyer Park Min-cheol's Crazy.'
The video also featured a surprise farewell party organized by junior lawyer colleagues. While receiving a gratitude plaque, Lawyer Park was moved to tears while responding to his juniors' well-wishes.
Although Lawyer Park received job offers from multiple places, he decided to open his own private law office. He stated, "I no longer want to listen to others' opinions. It has become difficult for me to follow instructions or guidelines from others."
He continued, "Naturally, doing one's best is a prerequisite. Even if you work hard and do your best, the desired outcome isn't guaranteed. What matters is ensuring clients understand even if different results occur, and I will strive to make that happen."
He also expressed his wish that his own "luck" would lead to favorable outcomes for his clients. Lawyer Park remarked, "Isn't a lawyer's work connected to their clients' case results and one's luck? Fortunately, I've been lucky in my work. Since my professional luck is tied to my clients' lives, it would be wonderful if we could share that luck together. Wouldn't that naturally lead to better earnings?"
He also mentioned recent television appearances. "As I prepared to open my own office, I was approached by 'You Quiz on the Block,' and my appearance there raised my public recognition to a new level. I hope my luck continues to connect in such positive ways."
He also expressed anticipation for changes in his daily life after opening his office. Lawyer Park said, "Once I open my own office, I won't wear ties anymore. The best part is not wearing suits during my commute; I'll only wear them when meeting clients."
He added, "While some other law firms allow casual attire on Fridays, Kim & Chang was the only one that did not permit short sleeves, requiring formal suits even in summer."
He also stated he would no longer be bound by the so-called "time," where work hours are recorded in six-minute increments. He explained, "If I complete 20 tasks in a day, it takes an hour to log them because they serve as documentation for billing clients. Once I open my own office, that won't be necessary."
However, he expressed regret about not being able to eat at the Kim & Chang cafeteria. "I'll miss the underground cafeteria; it was excellent. I had a very close relationship with the ladies working there, and I greeted them today before leaving."
