Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon announced the wedding of his adopted daughter.
In an episode of MBN's variety show 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' aired on the 5th, Hong Seok-cheon appeared and shared details about his family history.
During the broadcast, Hong revealed that his eldest daughter has now turned 30, stating, "My daughter is getting married soon. We've already held a formal meeting with her fiancé's family."
Regarding his future son-in-law, he remarked, "I saw him and realized he isn't exactly my type, but it's fine. He was very respectful to the elders, so I told him, 'Oh my, you can go ahead.'" He then joked, "My judgment of men is accurate," drawing laughter from the audience.
Hong Seok-cheon legally adopted his sister's daughter and son after their divorce in 2008 and raised them as his own children.
Explaining his decision to adopt, he said, "The children started living with me when they were in elementary school. At a certain point, the law was revised to allow an uncle like me to register his nieces and nephews on his household registry. Since the children needed legal guardians, I registered them under my name."
He also mentioned that raising the two children made him newly realize the role of parents. Hong stated, "At the time, I did it without fully understanding, but now I know all parents around the world are amazing. Raising a child costs an enormous amount of money."
Previously, Hong had revealed that he avoided attending school events like entrance and graduation ceremonies for his children out of concern that they might face difficulties due to his presence.
