Singer Kim Jong-kook, 50, in his first year of marriage, revealed his standards for what constitutes infidelity between spouses.
On Thursday, a video was released on the YouTube channel ‘Lawyer Park Min-cheol’s Crazy’ showing Kim visiting lawyer Park Min-cheol’s newly opened office.
In the video, Kim discussed how far one can go in considering something infidelity between spouses, based on actual consultation cases handled by Park.
Lawyer Park began by saying, “Even after getting married, there are cases where people address former friends with the terms ‘honey’ or ‘female friend-bong-bong.’”
Kim Jong-koo responded to the term ‘honey’ by saying, “Such people do exist,” but took a firm stance on ‘female friend-bong-bong,’ stating, “That’s strange. That’s cheating. ‘Female friend-bong-bong’ is not allowed. It’s infidelity.”
Lawyer Park then asked, “If a wife calls her friend late at night to complain about her husband and seeks counseling, would that be considered cheating?”
Kim Jong-koo replied, “Considering my own case where trust between spouses is strong, I think if a close person consults with you about your home without using the term ‘honey,’ it might be acceptable.”
When Lawyer Park asked, “What if she says ‘I miss you’? Is that not allowed?” Kim Jong-koo responded, “Sometimes ‘I miss you’ carries more weight than ‘I love you.’”
Lawyer Park further asked, “If your wife said, ‘Next time we’re born, I’ll marry you. I really miss you. Should we go to Busan tomorrow morning?’ but in reality didn’t go and did nothing, would that be grounds for divorce?”
Kim Jong-koo firmly stated, “That is infidelity. It’s not allowed. That seems like valid grounds for divorce.”
He continued, “Many people accept physical mistakes and move on, but this is essentially saying, ‘You are that kind of person to me,’ so the issue lies in an emotionally dependent relationship.”
Lawyer Park stated, “The core criterion for court judgments is whether there was emotional rapport formed with someone of the opposite sex. Such actions can be far more dangerous and may be judged as infidelity, serving as grounds for divorce.”
Kim Jong-koo announced his marriage to a non-celebrity woman last September and held a private wedding ceremony attended only by family and close friends.
