Singer and composer Kim Do-hyang (81) expressed his love for prenatal music.
Kim Do-hyang appeared on the MBN program 'Special Report World,' which aired on the 10th.
Kim Do-hyang debuted in 1970 as part of the folk duo 'Two Koreans' and later became a representative star of the 1970s with his solo hit 'I Lived Like a Fool.' She also composed over 4,000 commercial jingles for brands such as Screwba, Acacia Gum, and LG Group.
During that day's broadcast, Kim Do-hyang reflected on his past, saying, "I was so busy staying up all night almost every day to create commissioned music. I spent nearly 30 years making both pop songs and commercial jingles."
Kim Do-hyang revealed, "When orders piled up, I would create as many as 50 songs a day. (To date) I have composed approximately 4,000 commercial jingles."
She continued, "As work increased, I needed more hands, so I established a commercial music composition office. The staff grew to 50 people. Having 50 employees at a commercial music company is quite a lot—it was because there was so much work."
She added, "Even though many of my commercial jingles became hits, I suddenly felt disconnected from the music and asked myself, 'What am I doing?' I realized that I was not someone who should chase money."
Kim Do-hyang worked through the night three days a week, which caused his hair to turn white. She felt disillusioned with a life spent rushing forward without looking back. Then she discovered meditation and became deeply immersed in it. This led him to take on the challenge of creating prenatal music as well.
Kim Do-hyang said, "We wanted to give good energy to children who are being born anew, so the prenatal music project took 12 years to complete."
She further disclosed, "At that time, I invested about 6 billion won. In today's terms, that would be 60 billion won. We even sold our house and took on debt to do it. It was so much fun. That world was truly wonderful."
She added, "My wife had never seen me work so hard before, so she didn't oppose it at all. Even when we were taking out loans, she went to the bank with me."
Kim Do-hyang is married to a wife who is one year older than him and has two daughters.
