Jin Yang-hye, a former announcer turned broadcaster, shared an anecdote about feeling disappointed with her husband Son Beom-soo for failing to keep his promise to register their home under joint names.
The MBN variety show 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi,' airing on the 3rd, will feature discussions on the theme "I wish I could escape and leave my kids behind once in a while."
In the preview video, Jin Yang-hye said, "Shortly after our marriage, my husband and I were appointed as an 'Equal Couple,'" adding, "It seems they gave us the title to encourage us to live well as newlyweds."
It is reported that the oath for the "Honorary Equal Couple" at the time also included a clause stating, "The house will be registered under joint names." Jin Yang-hye said, "That part caught my eye. I expected, 'If we buy a house, this person will definitely put it under joint names.' After all, we took an oath and it was even published in the newspaper."
However, the home they actually purchased was registered solely under Son Beom-soo's name. Jin Yang-hye said, "A few years later, I noticed that the house was under my husband's sole name," adding, "At first, I thought nothing of it, but as our relationship soured, it suddenly came back to me. I felt disappointed and said, 'We are an equal couple, so I naturally expected him to put it under joint names.'"
Ultimately, during an argument between the couple, when Jin Yang-hye said, "Let's divide everything exactly 50-50 if we get a divorce," Son Beom-soo reportedly replied, "If that ever happens, you can take it all."
Jin Yang-hye said, "Hearing that, I was completely relieved. I thought, 'So this is the kind of man I am living with,'" and even bragged about her husband's words to her friends.
However, a twist came later. Jin Yang-hye said, "After a long time, while having a drink, I told him that his words were the most moving moment for me, and he immediately put down his glass," adding, "Then he said, 'Ah, I didn't know much about the world back then. 50-50 is right,'" which drew laughter.
Jin Yang-hye and Son Beom-soo met as senior and junior colleagues at KBS Announcers, married in 1994, and have two sons.
