The couple, Soyeon (39, real name Park Soyeon), a former member of the group T-ARA, and soccer player Cho Yu-min (29, Tokyo Verdy), will become parents for the first time after four years of marriage.
On the 1st, Soyeon shared news of her pregnancy with her first child on social media to mark their fourth wedding anniversary. She stated, "Our baby is about to be born. We are currently living a wobbly, pregnant life," and released several photos, including an ultrasound image of the fetus.
The photos captured Cho Yu-min watching a video titled "Things Every Father Must Know Before Birth" on his mobile phone, mimicking Soyeon's round belly by placing a soccer ball inside his uniform, kissing her belly, and tenderly applying pedicure polish to her feet in place of a professional.
Soyeon mentioned that Cho Yu-min was unable to participate in the North and Central America World Cup due to an injury, stating, "While we were overcoming what has been the greatest trial of my husband's life together, God gifted us a precious life on a day we truly did not expect and could hardly have planned for."
She continued, "I think it was a miracle," adding, "Since the day we learned of the baby's existence, both my husband and I have been living each day with gratitude, enjoying time with our child in the womb. Going forward, we will live with constant gratitude alongside a kind and diligent husband and a son who is sure to resemble him."
The baby's nickname listed in the disclosed maternity notebook is "Power." Soyeon, who first learned of her pregnancy on June 22, revealed, "Because I found out a bit late, I didn't even realize I was pregnant, and (Cho) Yu-min would pick me up and use me as a weight tool at times."
Soyeon debuted as the main vocalist of T-ARA in 2009. After leaving the team in 2017, she pursued a solo career before marrying Cho Yu-min, who is nine years her junior, following three years of dating in 2022. Cho Yu-min is currently playing for Tokyo Verdy in Japan's J-League.
