Amid suspicions of school bullying involving actress Cha Ye-ryeon, a former caddy has come forward alleging that she was treated rudely by her at a golf course in the past.
On the 3rd, a post by an internet user who identified themselves as a former caddy was featured on the YouTube channel "Baek Eun-young's Golden Time."
The poster claimed to have been responsible for a golf round involving Cha Ye-ryeon and her group in 2012–2013, stating that at the time, Cha Ye-ryeon ignored them and behaved rudely.
"In my memory, she had no manners whatsoever. On the first hole, she asked, 'Sister, are you really looking straight at the LINE?' Since it is a question anyone could ask, I explained why I was doing so. The moment the ball did not go into the cup, the following 17 holes were a continuous string of irritation and disregard," they wrote.
They added, "From then on, she kept calling out 'hey hey,' and I really remember her having no manners at all," recalling, "Everyone else was well-mannered, but the ones I remember as having no manners were Cha Ye-ryeon and a male model."
The poster stated that Cha Ye-ryeon's attitude changed when she answered phone calls. They wrote, "Cha Ye-ryeon came with a team of broadcasting industry officials. When she was answering a call to someone, her voice completely changed as she said, 'Oh my, Director. I have come to play golf. Of course, if the Director calls me, I will go,' and when I heard her talking on the phone while changing her voice, it gave me goosebumps."
However, it has not been confirmed whether the author of the post actually worked as a caddy or whether the situation they described is factual.
Previously, on the 29th of last month, a post was uploaded to an online community claiming that the poster had been bullied by Cha Ye-ryeon during their school days. The poster claimed to have suffered physical violence and bullying in the classroom, restroom, and playground during middle school, and that they lent out their gym clothes but never received them back.
Citing that they have continued to suffer mental pain due to the experience at the time, the poster demanded an apology from Cha Ye-ryeon. They stated that if the suspicions were denied, they would release additional evidence and testimonies from classmates. The post is currently access-restricted as a temporary measure.
Cha Ye-ryeon's agency, HB Entertainment, denied the suspicions on the 30th of last month, one day later, stating that the claims are "groundless."
As the controversy continued to grow, Cha Ye-ryeon's YouTube channel, "Director Cha Cha Ye-ryeon," suspended the comment function on its videos.
