Actress Cho Yoo-jung shared the anxiety and worries she felt while working alongside highly accomplished peers, including Song Hye-kyo and Jun Ji-hyun.
Cho appeared on the web variety show "Off Work," released on the 5th, where she reflected on her acting career.
Mentioning actresses of her generation such as Jun Ji-hyun, Song Hye-kyo, Han Ji-min, Gong Hyo-jin, Bae Doona, and Im Soo-jung, Cho said, “They are all leading-lady-caliber and truly formidable actors. They are all exceptionally skilled at acting.”
She revealed that she had greatly worried about whether she could establish her presence as an actress among them, stating, “That was the scariest part. There were so many talented actresses that I felt anxious, fearful, and overwhelmed.”

However, she viewed competition itself as meaningless, given that each actress possesses a distinct charm. Cho stated, “What is impressive is that each actress had a different appeal. Their acting was all good in its own unique way,” adding, “It is not really about competition; after all, everyone’s charm is different. Competition is meaningless.”
Reflecting on her career, she said, “It seems it took some time before I could truly blossom.” She continued, “I started making films around the age of 30. So, I probably spent much of my 20s worrying about what to do next.”
As a message she would like to give her 20-year-old self now that she is in her 40s, Cho chose the phrase “You held on well.” She said, “I do not want to offer excessive praise,” adding, “I did not stop walking. I took at least one step every day.”
