Solastic, a lightweight solar company founded by former Hyundai Motor Group internal venture team members and led by CEO Park Seong-geun, announced on the 10th that it has secured a pre-Series A investment totaling 3 billion won from Stonebridge Ventures and IBK Industrial Bank of Korea.
Solastic plans to leverage this investment to officially begin certification and launch of its building-integrated photovoltaic (BAPV) products, while also laying the groundwork for vehicle-integrated photovoltaic (VIPV) components in Yangsan. For building products, the company will collaborate with contract manufacturing partners to supply the market. For vehicle products, it intends to establish a dedicated factory to internalize key production processes and secure capabilities in production and quality management.
The building solar product is currently undergoing procedures aimed at obtaining KS certification by the second half of 2026. By reducing product weight, Solastic has lowered structural load and construction burdens on buildings. After completing proof-of-concept (PoC) trials with major corporations, the company plans to aggressively target markets such as aging factories and lightweight roofs that previously faced installation challenges due to weight constraints.
In the vehicle-integrated solar sector, Solastic is conducting four pre-development projects with domestic automakers and related companies. Recognized for its integrated technology for curved exterior components, the company was selected for the CES 2026 Innovation Award in the 'Vehicle Technology and Advanced Mobility' category. Through internalization of key processes, it aims to translate pre-development achievements into full-scale Yangsan projects with automakers.
Lee Jong-hyun of StonebridgeJi Ben-cheo-seu (SVP) stated that the investment was made after highly evaluating Solastic's ability to integrate solar cells while maintaining vehicle design, as well as its potential as a platform expandable to future applications such as robots and unmanned mobility systems.
Byeon Ye-seul, an officer at IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, added that the company positively assessed Solastic's business structure, which combines pioneering new markets for aging industrial facilities with medium- to long-term growth potential in vehicle-integrated solar technology.
Park Seong-geun, CEO of Solastic, said, "This investment marks a turning point beyond technical validation, as we move toward full-scale product launches and the establishment of a Yangsan foundation." He further stated, "We will generate new revenue through building products and establish a factory to internalize key vehicle processes, linking these efforts to Yangsan projects."
