The revised tentative agreement on wages and collective bargaining (hereinafter referred to as the labor-management agreement) between SK Hynix management and its union, which stipulates that half of the performance bonus will be paid in cash and the remainder in company shares, has passed the threshold for member voting. This comes approximately three weeks after the initial agreement, which set the cash payment ratio at 40%, was rejected by members.
SK Hynix management and labor announced on the 16th that the "2026 Revised Labor-Management Agreement" was finally approved with 57.08% in favor during the member vote. Out of 15,297 participating members, 8,731 voted in favor.
The key issue in this year's negotiations was the proportion of PS (excess profit distribution) to be paid in cash. Management and labor initially prepared a first tentative agreement to pay PS as "40% cash and 60% company shares," but it was rejected by a margin of 25 votes during the member vote on the 25th of last month.
Following this, management and labor conducted intensive negotiations over two weeks and reached a revised agreement on the 9th that adjusted the payment ratio to "50% cash and 50% company shares." Additionally, employees who wish may opt for company shares in increments of 10% from the cash portion. This means it is also possible to receive the entire performance bonus in company shares. As before, PS will be distributed as 80% in the current year, with the remaining 10% each paid one and two years later. However, based on last year's performance, management and labor decided to advance the payment schedule for the 20th% of PS originally planned for distribution in 2027 and 2028.
