HS Hyosung Advanced Materials announced on the 30th that it will construct a new carpet factory with a total investment of $100 million (approximately 130 billion won) at the Tam Tang Industrial Park in Da Nang City, Vietnam.
The company plans to secure an additional 110,000 square meters (approximately 33,000 pyeong) of land on top of its existing 390,000 square meters (approximately 118,000 pyeong) site for the tire cord and airbag factory operated by its Quang Nam subsidiary, establishing a total production infrastructure of 500,000 square meters (approximately 151,000 pyeong). It aims to complete the construction of BCF (Bulk Continuous Filament) yarn and automotive and commercial carpet factories by 2029. The goal is to significantly expand the global production infrastructure of its Quang Nam subsidiary and strengthen its dominance in the global market for core mobility materials.
Through the establishment of this new Tam Tang plant, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials is expected to build an "Integrated Yarn-to-Carpet Manufacturing System" and significantly boost its competitiveness in the global carpet market. The concept involves connecting the entire process from raw material import to BCF yarn production, processing, tufting, backing, and laminating into a single system to enhance finished product production efficiency and quality competitiveness.
Recently, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has been continuously expanding its lineup of eco-friendly new products targeting the rapidly growing sustainable mobility materials market. Notable examples include "Bio-Based PET Carpet" containing 30% bio-based content that reduces the use of petrochemical resources by utilizing raw materials extracted from sugarcane, "Recycled PET Carpet" made from recycled discarded PET bottles, and "Recycled NYLON Carpet" made from recycled fishing nets.
Lim Jin-dal, CEO of HS Hyosung Advanced Materials, stated, "In the global finished vehicle market, demand for eco-friendly interior materials such as bio-based and recycled materials is surging, centered on electric vehicles." He added, "We will proactively respond to the demands of global customers and lead market trends by leveraging our unique technological capabilities and the integrated yarn-to-carpet manufacturing system of the new Tam Tang plant."
