L&F announced on the 12th that it received a carbon footprint (PCF) verification opinion for its cathode material products based on the international standard 'ISO 14067' from Lloyd Certification (LRQA), a globally accredited verification institutional investor.
The ceremony was held at L&F's Daegu headquarters on the 7th, with attendance from Park Nam-won, Head of Strategic Planning Division at L&F; Han Guk-ji-sa (CEO) from Lloyd Certification; and other officials from both companies. Through this verification, L&F has secured external credibility to systematically calculate and manage carbon emissions per product unit, and to respond to global environmental (carbon) regulations and customer requirements.
Product carbon footprint is an indicator that calculates greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire process, from the procurement of raw materials and components to energy use and waste and wastewater treatment. 'ISO 14067,' established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 2018, is the international standard for the objective measurement and reporting of carbon footprints.
Carbon footprint is core data used by finished vehicle and battery manufacturers to manage carbon emissions across the entire supply chain. As global environmental regulations, such as the European Union (EU) Battery Regulation, are being strengthened, it has become an indicator that can directly impact future sales.
Division Head Park stated, "This product carbon footprint verification is a result of L&F being officially recognized for possessing carbon data management capabilities that meet global standards," adding, "Going forward, we will precisely manage carbon emissions based on life cycle assessment and enhance reduction activities to contribute to strengthening the sales competitiveness of our products and building a sustainable secondary battery supply chain."
