
Krafton announced on the 29th that it recorded revenue of 1.2902 trillion won and operating profit of 410.9 billion won for the second quarter of this year. Revenue increased by 94.9% compared to the same period last year, while operating profit rose by 67%.
Krafton achieved revenue of 2.6616 trillion won and operating profit of 972.5 billion won in the first half of this year, setting new all-time records for both metrics on a semi-annual basis. Compared to last year's first half, revenue and operating profit increased by 73.3% and 38.3%, respectively. The first-half operating profit accounted for 92% of Krafton's full-year operating profit from the previous year.
Revenue from the PUBG IP franchise increased by 25% compared to the same period last year. Subnautica 2, released in early access in May, surpassed 5 million units sold within just 22 days. The steady growth of the PUBG IP, combined with the success of Subnautica 2, drove record-breaking performance for the first half of the year.
Revenue by business segment in the first half was as follows: PC 924.2 billion won, mobile 1.1537 trillion won, console 37.7 billion won, and other 546 billion won. Building on strong user metrics and an increase in paying users within the PUBG IP franchise, the company continued its double-digit growth trend.
On the PC platform, highly polished modes such as Xenopoint and PAYDAY for 'PUBG: Battlegrounds' drove user activation. Additionally, 'Eve Contender,' unveiled through a collaboration with Stella Blade, received positive responses, while 'Black Market' also contributed to strong results. With the added success of Subnautica 2's launch, second-quarter PC platform revenue exceeded 5 million won for the first time. The success of Subnautica 2 was also clearly evident on the console platform. Console revenue in the second quarter surged by 143% compared to the same period last year, showing steep growth.
On the mobile platform, Battle Royale's new X-Suit 'Phoenixtra' set a record for highest single-day sales, and both Battle Royale Mobile and Battle Royale Mobile India continued to show robust growth.
Krafton plans to unveil five new titles targeted for release by next year at Gamescom 2026 in August. The company will showcase its first new project based on the PUBG IP alongside 'NO LAW,' 'Project Zeta,' 'Age Twister,' and 'Tale: Unbound,' officially beginning market validation for next-generation franchise IPs. Krafton intends to strengthen its growth framework by identifying promising IPs and expanding their scale, ensuring continuous acquisition of new franchise IPs.
In the first half of this year, Krafton acquired 300 billion won worth of treasury stock and completed a capital reduction dividend totaling 99.6 billion won. It retired treasury stock amounting to 336.2 billion won, combining newly acquired shares with previously held ones, and also decided to retire the treasury stock acquired in the second quarter. The total value of treasury stock retirement, including the second-quarter acquisition, reached 431.5 billion won. Additionally, Krafton plans to acquire an additional 100 billion won worth of treasury stock in the third quarter and retire all of it. Going forward, the company intends to faithfully implement its shareholder return policy based on a strong commitment to enhancing shareholder value.
