Samsung Electronics announced on the 10th that it has launched a 'paperless ticket' service in collaboration with Korail (Korea Railroad Corporation). Starting today, users can register mobile tickets in Samsung Wallet instead of receiving physical paper tickets.
The 'paperless ticket' service in Samsung Wallet is the first feature to support domestic mobile boarding passes. Users can easily use it by simply providing prior consent within Samsung Wallet.
Customers who have agreed to use the service can pay for their tickets at offline counters of Korail stations using Samsung Wallet, and the mobile tickets will be automatically added to Samsung Wallet.
Additionally, Korail tickets purchased through 'Korail+', an integrated app that allows users to access both Korail (Korail) and SR (SRT) on a single platform since its launch on the 3rd, can be easily added to Samsung Wallet via the 'Add to Wallet' feature. To maximize customer convenience, Samsung Wallet also enables customers to process returns (refunds) for mobile tickets directly within the app.
Mobile tickets added to Samsung Wallet are integrated with Galaxy devices' calendars and Now Brief features. Through this integration, customers can receive pre-departure notifications for train boarding times and systematically manage their entire travel itinerary with ease.
However, for SRT, starting September 1, the service will be rebranded as KTX-Sancheon due to high-speed rail integration. Consequently, tickets for September operations onward can be added to Samsung Wallet.
Through the 'paperless ticket' service, Samsung Electronics also fulfills social responsibilities such as environmental protection and cost reduction.
Vice President Chae Won-cheol of Samsung Electronics MX Business Division stated, "We are pleased to successfully implement the 'paperless ticket' service through our partnership with Korail." He added, "In addition to continuously providing innovative convenience to customers' daily lives, we will actively lead efforts to realize the values Samsung Wallet pursues, including promoting a paperless lifestyle and environmental protection."
