NC generated more than half of its total revenue for the second quarter of this year from overseas. With the inclusion of its mobile casual business segment, revenues in North America and Europe have expanded. The company plans to continue launching major new titles globally starting in the second half of the year, including 'Aion 2', thereby solidifying overseas growth as a core business driver.
According to NC on the 25th, overseas revenue for the second quarter reached 400.7 billion won, setting a record high for any single quarter. Overseas revenue accounted for 52% of total revenue, surpassing domestic sales for the first time. The share of overseas revenue has risen for four consecutive quarters.
Growth in North America and Europe was particularly notable. With the mobile casual business fully reflected in consolidated results, the proportion of revenue from North America and Europe increased from 15% in the previous quarter to 27%. Revenue from the newly integrated rewards platform 'Just Play' also doubled compared to the same period last year.
New titles leveraging existing intellectual property (IP) also supported performance. 'Aion 2' recorded revenue of 136.8 billion won in the first quarter, while 'Lineage Classic' accumulated 269.1 billion won in revenue within 140 days of its launch. NC's cumulative revenue for the first half of the year exceeded 1.3 trillion won, and operating profit surpassed 287 billion won. The operating profit margin rose from 20% in the first quarter to 23% in the second quarter.
NC plans to significantly expand the regions where new titles are released starting in the second half of the year. Beginning with the global version of 'Aion 2', the company will sequentially introduce 'Thunder City', 'Horizon Steel Frontier', and 'Guild Wars 3'. NC will also participate in major overseas gaming events such as Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show to expand its engagement with local users.
Collaborations with global game companies are also being strengthened. 'Horizon Steel Frontier' is a title that combines Sony's Horizon IP, developed by Guerrilla Games under Sony, with NC's MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) development capabilities. Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NC, signed a strategic partnership agreement in 2023 with Jim Ryan, then CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
In the Chinese market, NC has partnered with local game companies. Kim (CEO) met with Peng Qing Xingqu Games representative in Shanghai last July to formalize strategic cooperation for the local publishing of 'Aion 2'. For 'Lineage M', which has received a Chinese license, NC is coordinating schedules with its partner company with the goal of launching locally within this year.
NC intends to expand the regions where new titles are launched by leveraging partnerships and distribution networks secured overseas.
