KT is doubling the data allowance for its flagship roaming plans to accommodate increased data usage by travelers abroad. For long-term travelers, the validity period of select plans will also be extended from 15 days to 30 days.
KT announced on the 1st that it is revising its representative roaming products, "Shared Roaming" and "All-Day Roaming." The move aims to strengthen product competitiveness by enabling customers to use data more generously while traveling abroad, in response to rising international travel and shifting usage patterns toward data-centric consumption.
The "Shared Roaming" plan, which allows users to share data with family or friends, will expand its data allowance while keeping prices unchanged. The 33,000 won plan will increase from 4GB to 5GB, the 44,000 won plan from 8GB to 10GB, and the 66,000 won plan from 12GB to 20GB—a roughly 67% increase. A new high-capacity "Shared Roaming 40GB" plan will also be launched at a price of 77,000 won.
The validity period has been extended for long-term travelers. The 33,000 won Shared Roaming plan and the 19,800 won "Y Shared Roaming" plan (for customers under age 34) will see their usage periods expanded from 15 days to 30 days. Data allowances for Y Shared Roaming will also be increased. This plan offers a 40% discount on fees compared to standard Shared Roaming and includes an additional 1GB of data.
Data benefits for "All-Day Roaming Basic" and "All-Day Roaming Plus," which are used on a daily basis, will also be enhanced. The All-Day Roaming Basic series will double its daily allowance from 500MB to 1GB, while the Plus series will expand from 1GB to 2GB. KT also provides travel-related partnership benefits for roaming customers. Users receive a 10,000 won discount when using lounges at Incheon and Gimpo International Airports, and travelers heading to Southeast Asia can enjoy discounts on Grab's ride-hailing and food delivery platform.
Grab partnership applies to seven countries: Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Cambodia. Upon arrival in any of these countries, a Grab Travel Pass code will be sent via text message. Registering the code in the Grab app allows users to receive discounts on ride-hailing, food delivery, and grocery shopping. Benefits are available until allocated quantities are exhausted.
Kang Yi-hwan, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Service at KT's Customer Division, stated, "This revision focuses primarily on expanding data benefits that travelers can most directly experience." He added, "We will continue to introduce differentiated roaming services that reflect evolving customer usage patterns."
