SK Telecom is solidifying a 'Win-Win partnership' that fosters mutual growth through continuous communication with startups.
SK Telecom announced that CEO Jung Jae-heon met with representatives of eight startups at the SKT Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 16th to listen to challenges faced during business operations and exchanged various ideas for mutual growth between both sides.
This meeting was held to directly hear voices from the field during startup incubation and collaboration processes and to jointly explore ways to enhance synergies. CEO Jung has continued communication activities since meeting with startup representatives at the MWC site last March.
SKT members currently leading joint projects with startups also participated in the session, introducing how collaborations between large corporations and startups are carried out on the ground and sharing insights for creating synergies.
Kim Song-hyeon (CEO) of SierraBase, which holds a drone-based AI infrastructure safety inspection solution, said, "We are collaborating with SKT in the field of small autonomous drones to automate communication tower safety inspections that were previously performed manually by people using AI. We believe this will not only advance technology but also uncover actual business models."
In response, CEO Jung stated, "Combining startups' technologies and ideas with SKT's strengths in AI, infrastructure, and marketing capabilities can create new business opportunities and value in the AI era."
Since 2013, SKT has discovered and supported startups across various fields. This year, it advanced its startup incubation programs with the goal of strengthening partnerships for mutual growth.
SKT is launching and operating the startup collaboration platform 'Sketch (SKTCH)' to connect startups' innovation capabilities with SKT's AI technology and business capabilities through expert mentoring, discovering collaboration opportunities with SKT and advancing businesses, participation in domestic and international exhibitions, and support for investment acquisition opportunities. In particular, it aims to nurture 500 innovative companies over the next five years until 2030 and grow together with them.
Jung Jae-heon, CEO of SKT, said, "Startups are important partners who will create new business opportunities and success stories in the AI era alongside SKT. We will continue to listen to voices from the field, connect our respective strengths, and expand practical cooperation."
