Samsung Electronics introduced "Galaxy Classroom," a classroom-specific solution that supports the entire process of introducing, managing, and utilizing Galaxy devices in schools on Thursday.
"Galaxy Classroom" integrates three key components: the tablet and PC management solution for classroom lessons called "Knox Classroom," the user-customized environment setup solution "Knox Configure," and complimentary service benefits, providing all necessary solutions and services to build a digital education environment.
For the first time, Samsung Electronics is introducing the classroom lesson solution "Knox Classroom." Teachers can monitor students' device usage status in real time on PCs or electronic whiteboards via "Samsung Knox Classroom." It also offers various features to enhance class focus, such as screen sharing and remote support. Over 500 current elementary, middle, and high school teachers participated directly in the development from the initial planning stage, making it a solution optimized for classroom use with features and convenience reflecting actual educational field expertise.
Using "Knox Classroom," teachers can immediately view the screens of tablets or PCs being used by up to 60 students, allowing them to easily grasp each student's learning situation. They can provide necessary assistance to students who are not focusing on class or struggling to keep up with the lesson progress.
Additionally, apps needed during class can be remotely executed on students' devices, and apps can be locked to help students concentrate on lessons. Depending on needs, specific students' devices can be muted, or their screens or entire devices can be locked.
If errors occur on a student's device or if they struggle to keep up with the lesson pace, teachers can remotely access the device to assist in resolving issues.
During group activities, student devices can be grouped and managed collectively. The screen of the presenting student is displayed on each other student's device, enabling collaborative lessons where everyone can view the presentation content together.
Starting next January, integration with Google will also be supported. Schools that previously used existing Google education accounts will be able to use "Knox Classroom" solely with their existing Google accounts. In addition, "Knox Classroom" offers various functions to support lesson progression, including timers, class participation code guidance, and announcement boards.
For B2B (business-to-business) customers, "Knox Configure" is also available, allowing customized environment settings. Schools can batch-install educational applications on tablets and configure devices to automatically launch key school applications upon booting, enabling custom setups optimized for classroom lessons.
To reduce the burden of the education environment, Samsung Electronics will extend the free service period for tablets and PCs purchased through "Galaxy Classroom" by at least one year. Tablets will receive two years of free service, while PCs will receive one year. Samsung Electronics plans to begin public education tablet and PC procurement projects based on "Galaxy Classroom" starting in the second half of this year.
Jung Ho-jin, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Korea, stated, "'Galaxy Classroom' was planned to enhance class immersion by reflecting actual teachers' feedback," adding, "We expect teachers and students to focus on creative activities using Galaxy devices."
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to continue activities introducing various ways to utilize "Galaxy Classroom" in real educational settings through its official education platform "Galaxy Campus," alongside the "Galaxy Teacher Lab," a group of over 1,100 teachers highly interested in utilizing Galaxy devices and Galaxy AI.
