The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 6th that it will operate the "2026 Korea Seafood Promotion Week (K-Seafood Global Weeks)" for three weeks, from the 7th to the 28th, in order to inform global consumers about the excellence of Korean seafood products and expand exports.
Now in its tenth year, this event was organized to promote and boost sales of Korean seafood products in line with the world's largest consumer seasons, including China's Singles' Day (November 11) and the United States' Black Friday (November 27).
During this promotion week, various promotional activities, including discount sales and tasting events, are scheduled to be held at 144 online and offline retail stores in 17 countries, including China, the United States, and Japan.
Online, discount promotions and marketing for a variety of Korean seafood products, such as seaweed sheets (gim) and fish cakes (eomuk), will be conducted at 26 major overseas online retail stores, including the "K-Seafood Online Exclusive Store."
Offline, promotional events for Korean seafood products will be held in collaboration with local large-scale retail stores, such as Metro Mart and Lida Mart in China and LEE Mart in Singapore, as well as Korean restaurant franchises. Promotional activities to raise awareness of K-Seafood are also planned.
In particular, this year, menu development using abalone, oysters, and yellowtail, along with promotional events and cooking demonstrations, will be conducted at 57 hotel food service establishments in Vietnam, Taiwan, and Indonesia. This is intended to allow local consumers to enjoy high-quality Korean seafood products more familiarly.
Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jong-woo said, "I hope this event becomes an opportunity for global consumers to directly experience the taste and appeal of Korean seafood products." He added, "We will actively support export expansion so that our seafood products can be served on the tables of people around the world more frequently in the future."
