Kim Ji-yeon, an influencer who appeared on Mnet's dating reality show "Love Catcher," refuted suspicions of "marrying for money" and controversy over her lavish lifestyle, expressing her sense of injustice.
On the 27th, Kim expressed discomfort through social media regarding malicious comments about her married life.
When an internet user questioned the accusation that she had "married for money," Kim said, "Since no one knows the details, they naturally assume I was the one who benefited more."
Regarding her married life, she explained, "I started with my own money, and I also managed living expenses, including event preparation costs. The scale of our spending was similar, and I received help from my parents' family as well."
She also drew a line regarding suspicions of extravagance. Kim stated, "Personally, I did not have the money to be extravagant, but even if I had, I am not the type of person who would do such things. I can get sponsorships for everything from head to toe, so why would I deliberately be extravagant? I was not particularly materialistic to begin with."
She further claimed that she handled pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, as well as household chores, all on her own, lamenting, "I have never received an allowance, but at this point, shouldn't it be acceptable for me to receive gifts or an allowance?"
Kim also expressed her sense of injustice over being blamed for her ex-husband's poor performance. She noted that she had been publicly criticized by a commentator she did not know personally, but she endured it and moved on, adding, "It is truly good that after the divorce, it was revealed that I was not the cause."
Kim married professional baseball player Jung Cheol-won last year, but the couple later separated. They have a son together, and they are currently engaged in legal disputes over allegations of violence and unpaid child support.
