The ex-girlfriend of singer-actor Kim Hyun-jung has begun internet broadcasting activities under the name "Si-yu."
Si-yu recently signed an exclusive contract with the multi-channel network (MCN) company Lightning Central and is conducting live broadcasts through social media platforms such as TikTok.
On the 21st, she announced via TikTok that she would hold two broadcasts per day at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. She added, "I am truly grateful for your constant support of my shortcomings, and I will work hard to ensure our broadcasts are always enjoyable."
Lightning Central stated that Si-yu is expected to engage in various fields based on TikTok, including beauty, health, and variety entertainment. Regarding the legal dispute with Kim Hyun-jung, they explained, "All lawsuits related to custody and parental rights concerning the child have been concluded."
The couple began dating in 2012, and legal battles erupted when Si-yu filed a complaint against Kim Hyun-jung on charges of assault in 2014. Kim Hyun-jung received a summary order for a fine of 5 million won on the charge of injuring Si-yu by beating her.
In 2015, Si-yu filed a lawsuit seeking 1.6 billion won in damages, claiming she had suffered a miscarriage due to Kim Hyun-jung's assault and was forced into an abortion.
However, the Supreme Court upheld the lower court's decision in November 2020, rejecting Si-yu's claim for damages and instead ordering Kim Hyun-jung to pay 100 million won in consolation money.
The Supreme Court determined that there was no fact that Si-yu had miscarried due to Kim Hyun-jung's assault. It found that while it is possible Si-yu genuinely believed she had miscarried, she damaged Kim Hyun-jung's reputation by informing the media of this without properly verifying the facts.
Si-yu was also sentenced to a fine of 5 million won on charges of attempted fraud in a separate criminal trial. It was found that her claim in October 2014, in which she demanded damages alleging she had been forced into an abortion despite not being pregnant, constituted a crime.
