Namoo Actors, home to actors including Park Eun-bin, Park Joong-hoon, Yoo Jun-sang and Song Kang, has warned aspiring actors about impersonators using the promise of agency representation to deceive them.
The agency's new talent development team posted a notice on its official social media account on Monday, saying it was concerned about potential damage caused by people impersonating the company and its staff. It also provided precautions and instructions for reporting suspicious activity.
Namoo Actors said it holds auditions through acting academies, but stressed that claims that applicants must enroll in or take classes at a specific academy to become one of its actors are false. It added that attending a particular academy does not guarantee an exclusive contract with the agency.
The agency also emphasized that all meetings with aspiring actors take place at its headquarters. It urged applicants to be especially cautious if someone claiming to represent the company suggests meeting individually at an outside location.
Namoo Actors asked anyone who has attended a suspicious meeting or received similar messages to report the incident.
"We will carefully verify the facts based on the reports we receive. If impersonation of the company or its staff is confirmed, we will take legal action, including filing criminal complaints," the agency said.
Namoo Actors issued a similar warning in 2024 after reports that people impersonating its employees had asked aspiring actors to register with certain businesses or pay for acting lessons.
At the time, the agency said it never requests signing fees or training costs under any circumstances during the contract process. It also advised applicants to contact its talent development team to verify an employee's identity if they receive casting, contract or meeting proposals that appear suspicious.
