As actress Cha Ye-ryeon (41, real name Park Hyeon-ho) denied past allegations of school bullying, a past interview with her husband, Joo Sang-wook (48), is being re-examined.
In July, Joo Sang-wook shared his thoughts on portraying the role of a father who tacitly accepts and covers up the truth even though his daughter in the drama is a perpetrator of school bullying, during an interview to mark the finale of the SBS drama "Department Head Kim."
At the time, when asked how he would respond if he were involved in a school bullying issue, Joo Sang-wook said, "Just thinking about it makes me feel dizzy."
He then raised his voice, stating, "If such an incident occurs in the future regarding school bullying, whether as a perpetrator or a victim, I think I would take extraordinary measures," adding, "I do not think I would let her continue attending that school."
Coincidentally, Joo Sang-wook's wife, Cha Ye-ryeon, has been embroiled in allegations of being a school bullying perpetrator, prompting netizens to re-examine his remarks.
On the 29th, a post was uploaded to the online community Nate Pan claiming that a female actress born in 1985, who graduated from Junggye Middle School in Nowon-gu, Seoul, had subjected the poster to school bullying.
The poster, identified as Person A, claimed to have been frequently bullied by the actress in places such as the classroom, restrooms, and playground during middle school, and alleged that she was physically assaulted, resulting in a ruptured eardrum.
However, the allegations of school bullying against Cha Ye-ryeon are merely claims made by Person A, and no objective evidence has been confirmed at this time.
On the 30th, HB Entertainment, Cha Ye-ryeon's agency, dismissed the allegations as "baseless" after verification.
Nevertheless, various suspicious comments continue to flood online, and the controversy is ongoing.
Cha Ye-ryeon and Joo Sang-wook married in 2017 and have one daughter.
