Actor Ahn Jae-wook delivered a sharp remark regarding noise complaints he received while serving as the MC for his daughter's school sports day.
On the episode of MBC variety show 'Radio Star' (abbreviated as 'Las') aired on the 4th, Ahn Jae-wook, Jung Young-joo, Lily, and Yoo Byung-gwon appeared.
On this day, Ahn Jae-wook revealed that the reason he had not been able to appear on 'Las' until now was "due to parenting." Currently raising a fourth-grade elementary school student and a six-year-old sibling pair, Ahn said, "I try to spend as much time with them as possible, at least during breaks from my acting work," adding that his share of childcare responsibilities is far greater than his wife's.
When Kim Goo-ra expressed suspicion, saying, "It seems you are working hard just so you can drink. You're trying to rack up points," Ahn Jae-wook replied, "I am above reproach. I cook dinner, do the dishes, put the kids to bed, and then say, 'Dad will be right back,'" eliciting laughter.
Ahn Jae-wook cited his age as the reason he must focus on parenting. He said, "I feel the preciousness of my relationship with my children acutely. Because I started building memories with them quite late, the time I have left is (limited) compared to younger fathers. I try to spend as much time with my children as possible."
He also shared that after learning about his father's profession, his children enjoy coming to pick him up. Ahn Jae-wook said, "When someone greets me, they are even happier than I am," and Kim Goo-ra agreed, adding, "My daughter always calls out 'Mr. Kim Goo-ra' when we go outside," further adding to the laughter.
Ahn Jae-wook, who is also invited to events at his daughter's school and makes talent donations, said, "I also volunteer by reading books, and I served as an MC at my daughter's sports day," then flashed a bitter expression as if something had just come to mind.
Ahn Jae-wook shared, "I don't know if it is okay to say this, but what was regrettable was that near the end of the event, I heard that complaints had been filed. Complaints were made because the children's cheers and music were too loud," adding, "So I said, 'The noise from these kids' sports day lasts only a few hours a day. How can that possibly be considered noise?'" shocking the audience.
In particular, Ahn Jae-wook raised his voice, saying, "Don't we all have memories from our elementary school days? Why are some adults trying to erase these precious childhood memories of the children?"
Jung Young-joo expressed agreement with Ahn's words, saying, "I deliberately moved near the school. I wanted to hear that sound."
Meanwhile, Ahn Jae-wook, born in 1971, married musical theater actress Choi Hyeon-ju, who is nine years his junior, in 2015 and has two children.
