LG Chem said Tuesday that it will make its first appearance at the 'International Auto Parts Exhibition (IZB 2026)' in Germany, showcasing high-value-added materials for future vehicles.
IZB is a biennial global trade fair specializing in automotive parts and suppliers. What began as an exhibition for Volkswagen Group's suppliers has expanded into a representative international event where major suppliers and global parts and materials companies network to explore business opportunities. This year, approximately 850 companies from about 33 countries are expected to participate, with over 40,000 visitors anticipated.
LG Chem is the only domestic materials company participating in this exhibition, having been invited by Volkswagen Group. The first participation was realized as cooperation between the two companies expanded following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the joint development of future vehicle mobility materials with Volkswagen Group last September.
Under the theme 'The Power Driving Customer Innovation,' LG Chem has set up an exhibition booth to showcase high-value-added materials for future vehicles that address key demands from European automakers, such as eco-friendliness, electrification, high functionality, and cost competitiveness. The main exhibition products include a portfolio featuring △automotive lightweighting solutions such as metal-substitute and paintless materials, △interior and exterior materials utilizing recycled (PCR) materials, and △battery thermal runaway delay materials and vehicle transparent adjustment film materials (SGF). Through this, the company aims to expand cooperation with existing customers while also discovering business opportunities with new clients.
LG Chem plans to hold sessions for executives from major customer companies visiting the exhibition booth, introducing sustainability solutions utilizing paintless and recycled materials as well as cost competitiveness enhancement solutions. The exhibition products will be linked with QR codes to provide AI voice guidance explaining the characteristics and functions of each material, and the company plans to continue communication with customers through a dedicated homepage for electric vehicle materials that has been separately established.
Kim Sang-min, head of LG Chem's Petrochemical Business Division, stated, "This exhibition is an important opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in the future vehicle materials field by gaining recognition from global customers, including Volkswagen Group, for our technology and product capabilities." He added, "Based on our differentiated material solutions and technological expertise, we will lead future high-value mobility innovation together with our customers."
