At its earnings announcement for the third quarter of 2026 on Wednesday, SK Hynix said, "We expect that in the fourth quarter of this year, HBM4 (sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory) will surpass HBM3E (fifth generation) in both its share of total HBM shipments and revenue, establishing itself as a key product."
The company explained, "Our 12-layer HBM4 products are being shipped smoothly according to the schedule agreed upon with major customers," adding, "To respond to surging customer demand, we are rapidly progressing the ramp-up of M15X and plan to reach full capacity by year-end."
It further stated, "We have concluded negotiations on transaction terms for next year's HBM supply, including volume and pricing, with major customers, faithfully reflecting factors such as the increased product value of HBM4," adding, "As a result, we expect the profitability gap between HBM and conventional DRAM to narrow significantly."
