President Lee Jae-myung stated, "Securing a stable supply of clean energy and its infrastructure is of utmost importance in order to lead the global artificial intelligence (AI) industry and preemptively capture future green markets."
President Lee made these remarks on the 28th through a congratulatory message for 'Smart Energy Plus (SMART ENERGY PLUS·SEP) 2026,' read aloud by Cheong Wa Dae Communications and Public Relations Secretary Sung Ki-hong. The event, held at Hall B of COEX in Seoul's Samsung-dong district, is co-hosted by Money Today and COEX, and organized by the National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum.
President Lee explained, "Amid deepening climate crisis and supply chain instability, the green transition of the economy and industry has become not a choice but a national survival strategy." He further referenced the 'Korean-style Green Transformation Strategy' prepared jointly by the government and private sector on the 7th, emphasizing, "To make the green transition an opportunity for new economic growth beyond mere carbon reduction, the government is concentrating all its efforts in cooperation with the private sector as one team."
President Lee evaluated 'SEP 2026' as "the country's only specialized exhibition where IT and energy value chains converge, having thoroughly addressed the energy Daejeon environment to date." He added, "In particular, this year's theme, 'Energy Daejeon environment in the AI era and energy security amid rapidly changing international conditions,' is a core challenge we face."
President Lee said, "I hope today's gathering will be a valuable opportunity to gain an overview of industrial changes in the era of energy transition and to jointly envision the future vision for South Korea that the convergence of AI and the energy industry will open up," adding, "Once again, I sincerely congratulate you on the holding of 'SEP 2026.'"
