#Brandon, an organizing and storage supplies company in its seventh year since founding, saw its performance soar after entering Coupang's Rocket Delivery service in Taiwan in the second quarter of last year. As of October this year, just one year after entry, its revenue growth rate in Taiwan reached 70 times (7,000%). In the domestic market as well, it has recorded annual revenue growth rates of 30 to 40 percent, achieving annual revenue of 10 billion won solely through Coupang. A company official said, "Thanks to Coupang's logistics network, which connects domestic product supply to local sales in Taiwan, the barriers to overseas expansion have been significantly lowered," adding, "We are achieving a strong synergy effect by running marketing for our own mall in Taiwan alongside sales on Coupang."
Rocket Delivery infrastructure, a symbol of Coupang, has become a reliable supporter helping domestic SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) expand overseas. Success stories are emerging one after another, with companies recording explosive revenue growth in the Taiwanese market by leveraging Coupang's "one-stop" system that covers logistics, customs clearance, and local delivery.
Brandon, which pioneered the market by introducing the industry's first "volume-reducing compression pouch," is credited for its hit success due to targeting a niche market concept of anti-theft features and volume reduction, which were absent in the local market, while noting that Taiwanese consumers enjoy travel and have high demand for bag purchases.
Shinji Moru, a mobile accessory specialist established in 2008, has also greatly benefited from Coupang's Rocket Delivery service in Taiwan. The company mainly sells smartphone cases, liquid crystal protective films, and attachable card storage pouches, and recorded an 180 percent revenue growth rate compared to the previous year since entering the Taiwanese market in the second quarter of last year. It is expanding its position in the mobile peripheral device market not only in the domestic market but also in Taiwan.
Currently, approximately 10,000 domestic SME export products to Taiwan through Coupang. This accounts for about 30 percent of domestic consumer goods exporting SMEs. For SMEs lacking manpower and funds, this allows them to expand their sales channels to the global market simply by entering Coupang's domestic logistics centers, without dealing with complex import distribution procedures or establishing overseas subsidiaries.
Taiwan is one of the top five export destinations for Korean SMEs. With a population of approximately 24 million and a total distribution market size of about 20 trillion won, it is evaluated as a market with great growth potential, as its e-commerce share remains below 20 percent. In particular, an internet usage rate exceeding 90 percent and a higher population density than Korea (673 people per square kilometer) are considered optimal conditions for Coupang's advanced Rocket Delivery logistics network to exert strong power.
Coupang plans to actively support the overseas expansion of domestic SMEs in the future as well. A Coupang official said, "For domestic SMEs struggling with overseas expansion, business in Taiwan is becoming an excellent alternative for opening new sales channels," adding, "We will spare no effort in providing logistics and marketing support so that many promising domestic SMEs can grow together in overseas markets."
