Actor Shin Hyun-jun revealed the amusing story of how his eldest son almost been named 'Shin Changwon'.
On the 22nd, a preview video featuring Shin Hyun-jun as a guest was released on the official SNS (social media) of tvN's variety program 'You Quiz on the Block'.
In the video, Shin Hyun-jun recalled, "I wanted to give my son a good name, but I couldn't think of anything," adding, "Since I couldn't come up with a name at all, my mother-in-law went to a naming shop and brought back a name."
However, the name her mother-in-law brought was none other than 'Shin Changwon'. Shin Changwon is a figure who escaped from prison in 1997 and remained on the run for over two years, earning the title of "the great escapee." Notably, the flashy patterned T-shirt he wore at the time of his arrest drew significant attention.
Shin Hyun-jun shared his flustered feelings, saying, "Mother-in-law, what are you doing? As soon as I saw the name, all I could think about was the T-shirt." He then turned to the camera and asked, "Really, why did you do that, Mother-in-law?" eliciting laughter from viewers.
Ultimately, Shin Hyun-jun, who had been considering other names, thought of his late father. He said, "My father always used to say, 'Hyun-jun-ah, our son Hyun-jun-ah,' and the word 'Jun' stayed with me." Later, his wife suggested the name 'Min-jun,' and their eldest son was finally named Shin Min-jun.
Shin Hyun-jun married in 2013 and has two sons and one daughter.
