Actor Shim Eun-kyung announced that she will not appear in a Japanese film featuring the atomic bomb (genbaku) as its subject.
According to StarNews and NEWSIS on the 28th, Shim Eun-kyung's side stated, "Shim Eun-kyung received an offer to appear in the work but declined."
Previously, rumors emerged that Shim would appear in the Japan-South Korea co-production film 'Tamako.' It was reported that 'Tamako' tells the story of a Japanese boy who lost his parents in the 1945 Hiroshima atomic bombing, crosses over to South Korea with a Zainichi Korean, and experiences the Korean War.
It was announced that Shim, singer and actor Woodz (real name Jo Seung-yeon), and Japanese actress Ando Sakura would appear in the film, but Shim's side denied this.
Previously, Woodz also drew a clear line through a live broadcast, stating, "After receiving the script, I became aware of the content related to the work and informed my company. We declined, but news reports emerged during that time."
Meanwhile, Shim made a special appearance as Lee Kang-ja in the currently screening film 'Assassin(s).' Lee Kang-ja is an employee at Far East Company's Tokyo branch in the movie, assisting Han Young-il (played by Lee Min-ho) with his Japanese investigation.
