Singer Kim Yeon-ja (67) shed tears while remembering her mother, who is fighting acute Parkinson's disease.
On the 28th, tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' officially pre-released footage of Kim Yeon-ja's appearance on its official social media platform.
In the video, Kim Yeon-ja recalled her time in Japan when she was 19 years old in 1977. She said, "Because of homesickness, I kept making international calls. My phone bill reached 300,000 won a month, and I got scolded terribly."
She continued, "I called my mother every day," adding, "Thinking back, it seems like we were both holding onto the phone and crying together."
Kim Yeon-ja revealed that her mother is currently battling Parkinson's disease, shedding tears in the process.
She said, "My mother was diagnosed with acute Parkinson's disease. The year before last, she even came to my TV recording session, but it hasn't been a full year yet, and now she's bedridden and unable to stand up."
She added, "We lived together like sisters and friends. We even traveled to local areas together. She was such an active person, so I wish she could have enjoyed life happily before passing away. It's just too bad," as she broke down in tears.
Kim Yeon-ja debuted in 1974 with the song 'Tell Me' and has been active in both Korea and Japan. She gained popularity with hit songs such as 'Amor Fati' and 'Bling Bling'.
