Singer Seo In-young, former member of the group Jewelry, shared an anecdote about spending a large sum of money on a past birthday party.
On the 30th of last month, a video titled "Seo In-young's first-ever appearance: Wearing 15cm killer heels and taking the subway to a schedule" was released on the YouTube channel "Gwagwa Cheonsun Seo In-young."
In the video, Seo In-young attended a Seoul Fashion Week event by wearing 15cm killer heels and taking the subway, under the concept of "The Happiness of 10,000 Won." After finishing the event, she sent her manager home and boarded a bus to her home in Namyangju. Seo revealed that it was her first time ever riding both the subway and an intercity bus.
Coincidentally, as it was her birthday that day, Seo In-young scolded the production crew, saying, "Why is this so hard? I usually think of birthdays as very special. There are no days as special as today."
When the production crew asked, "How did you celebrate your birthday during your glamorous days?" Seo In-young replied, "I rented out the largest two-story club entirely."
As the production crew pointed out, "You rented a club and spent 20 million won," Seo In-young reflected, saying, "Exactly. I was crazy."
The production crew said, "We were shocked. They say you didn't even know how to carry your own bags because your managers always carried them for you." Seo In-young joked, "I was that immature. Then all the (managers and staff) disappeared. You become a fool."
What remained behind the glamour was emptiness. Seo In-young confessed, "Even if I spent a special birthday, I would go home and feel sad, crying every day. It felt hollow." She added, "After my mother's passing, it got even worse. Now I want to spend birthdays quietly, like an ordinary day."
Seo In-young showed a matured side, saying, "I used to live looking only forward, like a horse in Gyeongju, but these days I can see the staff around me."
